This is exactly how I work. It’s the only system that has worked for me across different jobs and very disparate tasks. I write everything in one notebook, and then once a week I “process” the information into a larger to-do list, or I type my rough draft poems out and begin the revision process, or I re-write my notes if they really matter for a future task or project. About the only major difference is that I don’t cross stuff out with a highlighter when I’m done… that’s what the black Sharpie is for, baby! I can still see the info but I get the satisfaction of drawing a big black slash through it. Also, I process my quotes to a google folder where I organize them by subject. I prefer to keep those kinds of things searchable so I usually digitize.

Bonus: Lined notebooks are very cheap (sometimes free!) so it’s an economical process that doesn’t require any special tools or initial investment.
